Best Party Ever!

Halloween is right around the corner! I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a Halloween party. I decided to have one this Saturday because our midterms are next month and we all need a break from school work. Although our school is like a prison, we will be forgetting all about it this Saturday.

The dress code for the party is obviously costumes. You can wear any costume you’d like. Personally I will be attending as Spiderman because he has been my favorite character because of his powers. Feel free to get creative with your costume and make your own if you would like to stand out.

The party will take place at my house. My parents are away all weekend so the party can go until we feel like it. I’ve already gotten tons of decorations. The house will be looking scarier than the haunted houses they have in the city. The house will have fake gooey green slime and fake cherry red slime.

Of course the nerds can’t come to the party. They are never invited. The party will be specifically for our clique. The football team and the cheerleading team will be the biggest attraction to the party. The party will be as loud as Madison Square Garden.

I know that a lot of the parties we have you have to bring your own alcohol but that’s not the case this time. My uncle will be supplying all the alcohol so you don’t need to bring anything. Also, my cousin Mike will be the DJ so we don’t have to worry about the music either. Everything is covered.

This isn’t a party that you want to miss. People will be talking about it in school for the next few weeks. If you don’t come you’ll feel like an abandoned puppy when people talk about. Hope to see you there and don’t forget your costume!

Open Letter to Reckless Drivers

Dear Reckless Drivers:

Your driving is out of control. Every day, I have an encounter with you that is EXTREMELY annoying and dangerous. You have no regards for the law and the well being of others.

The first thing I immediately notice when I encounter you is that you don’t use your signals. Cars have lights for a reason. This flaw is unforgivable because signs on highways say that you should use your signals every time you change lanes.

I’m sure you think speeding makes you look cool when you drive. Well, it doesn’t. The speed limit isn’t there as a suggestion. You need to obey it. You endanger everyone’s life that is driving around you.

You often get angry for no reason at all when you drive. You honk and scream at other people on the road like it’s your job. You need to relax and get your road rage under control.

The way you drive simply increases your chances of crashing. Ultimately you can die from your driving habits. How on earth did you people get your license?

Next time you are behind the wheel, please be considerate of us. You can easily kill a person with your driving habits. If you have issues that impair your driving please seek help before getting into the driver’s seat. We follow the law and expect everyone else to do the same.

Careful drivers

Digital vs Print Part Two

Whenever I research information, the first place I search is the internet. The internet along with other digital media has evolved largely over the recent years. Kaitlyn’s blog post “Digital Vs Print” indicates that digital media is more useful for people than print. She is absolutely right. Digital media is superior to print.

Print media just can’t keep with the news as it changes daily. Kaitlyn states that “digital constantly updates for society’s needs” (Kaitlyn). Something new is always occurring in our world and digital media is the fastest way to stay informed. With print we would have to wait until the next day to read the paper and be informed.

Digital media is more convenient than print. Kaitlyn states in her blog “what is on print will become available on digital” (Kaitlyn). Accordingly this idea demonstrates that print has no advantage over digital media. If we can attain anything that is on print in through digital media, then the need for print isn’t as large as it was before.

With digital media everything is simple and easy. Kaitlyn also states that “digital is beginning to feel right because everything has become easier for us” (Kaitlyn). With digital media, everything is just one click away. The process of finding information isn’t stressful or tedious as it is with print.

If you haven’t given up on print yet, perhaps you should. Digital media has tablets, laptops, and iPods that are convenient for everyone. Once you use these fun gadgets you’ll never want to go back.

Digital vs Print

Technology has evolved in the last few decades. Smart phones, laptops, and tablets are now ubiquitous as they seem to be the best way to connect. The evolution of technology has brought upon digital media. In the article “Why Digital is Better Than Print” Dan Blank ultimately believes that digital media is better than print. He is correct as digital media is in fact more beneficial than print.

Print does not age as well as digital media. According to Dan Blank, digital gives people “the ability to dive deep into the archives of all media and pull up relevant results the moment you need it” (1). However, with print items such as newspaper people do not have this power. If a person were to search for something in a printed item, the process would be very stressful and tedious.

Unlike printed material, digital media asserts itself to be useful. When a person is reading an article on a lap top, they can easily navigate through their laptop to answer any questions they may have. Nonetheless “print on the other hand, is literally bound to its medium. It is what it is, and can be used in a single fashion – each piece of information separate from another” (Blank, 2). Digital media is more advantageous than print.

With digital media, people can interact with what they are reading or watching. Dan Blank states that “Even if you are watching a TV show online, you can simultaneously be on a forum discussing it” (6). Digital devices allow a person to comment on articles and even have conversations with other people. People may argue that they can still connect with their printed material by writing comments as they go along. Still, when a person actively reads they are not able to interact with others as they would be able to with digital devices.

Digital media is only going to continue to evolve. Every year hundreds of new devices are released. Although printed material is still in use, it may not be in the future if digital media continues to grow the way it has.
